What the sources establish
The launch announcement lists 1–8 players. The 8 October update says the game was not designed around solo play; single-player remains available mainly for exploration. Neither statement establishes the current solo difficulty.

01 Choose a learning target before a score target
On your first attempt, practise recognising the objective display and finding your return point. On the next, concentrate on one tool you actually have. Trying to explore, optimise collection and learn every interaction simultaneously makes a failure hard to diagnose. Write a single target in the team planner with Players set to 1; the brief works as a personal reminder too.
02 Make a return decision while you still have information
At a recognisable junction, ask: what am I looking for, where would I return, and what information would change my decision? If you cannot answer the second question, reorient before adding another unfamiliar room. This does not define a safe route or safe waiting place. It is a way to notice uncertainty before it compounds.
03 Separate difficulty from an unclear interaction
After a loss, record the last clear event: an objective you could not complete, a route you could not retrace, an item prompt you misunderstood, or a technical interruption. Look up that specific issue. A hard encounter and a connection failure need different responses; neither tells you that a rumoured solo multiplier is correct.
04 Know when a group would solve your actual problem
If your frustration is learning several jobs at once, a small group can let you discuss them. If you mainly enjoy quiet exploration, a group may change the experience you wanted. Use the finding-a-team guide to state your pace and experience level before joining. Do not treat a large party as a guarantee of an easier or more rewarding run.
